Frequently Asked Questions

What is GRP?2024-08-24T11:18:51+00:00
GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Polyester: a composite manufactured by a chemical process using polyester resin and reinforced with a mat-like structure consisting of fine glass strands.
What are the benefits of GRP?2024-08-24T11:19:06+00:00
GRP is a lightweight, versatile plastic with excellent strength to weight ratio. It can be moulded to virtually any shape and produced to any RAL / BS colour or colour matched if required. We offer various specifications of resin to suit your unique GRP requirement including fire retardancy, heat resistance, anti-static properties and anti-microbial properties. All our gelcoats are Isophthalic as standard, meaning all have UV stability and will not discolour in extreme weather. GRP is also incredibly durable, and we have products that are still in full working condition 35+ years after being supplied to our customers.
How do I maintain GRP products?2024-08-24T11:19:22+00:00
GRP is a low-maintenance material and only requires occasional cleaning. It has chemical resistance and is also resistant to extreme weather, making it ideal for most environments.
What fire retardancy can you offer?2024-08-24T11:19:33+00:00
We can offer a full range of GP, Class 2, Class 1 and Class 0 resins ensuring your products can perform to most EN regulations. Our Class 1, 2 and 0 systems are tested by our suppliers to BS 476 part 6 or 7, and we have also had our Class 2 products independently tested to ISO3795: 1989
What are your lead times?2024-08-24T11:19:46+00:00
Lead times for new projects vary on the size and complexity of the individual design. As a ball park figure, from receipt of order and finalised CAD we can turn around patterns in 4 – 6 weeks, and the production moulds and a prototype product 2 weeks after this. We excel in turning around projects under tight timescales, so if you have an urgent project please get in touch to discuss further.
